Discovering Château Gigognan

In the heart of the Rhône Valley, 10 minutes from Châteauneuf du Pape, Château Gigognan is the heir to a history that plunges its roots into the depths of time.

 

The domain :

 

For more than 10 years now, this organic estate has been cultivating 110 hectares of vines, evenly spread over the appellations: Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côtes-du-Rhône-Villages and Côtes-du-Rhône.

 

The estate is undertaking major work both in the vineyard and in the cellar, with a new winery that will come out of the ground in 2018 and equipped with the latest, top-quality technology.

 

Everything is implemented: from steering the work on the floor, the work on the vine, from the harvest to the vinification, maturing and choice of bottling to extract, express and respect the identity of each parcel.

The grape varieties :

 

These are the evidence of these ancestral terroirs: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Carignan, Roussanne, Marsanne, Bourboulenc but also Clairette, Cinsault and Viognier.

Each brings its own typicity and authenticity to enrich the different blends and vintages.

There are 2 non-conformist wines: the 100% Viognier (in Côtes-du-Rhône) and the cuvée without added sulphur (in red Côtes-du-Rhône).

 

 

Welcome to the domain :

 

The tasting cellar is also getting a new look. With its view over the barrel cellar and accessible via a terrace shaded by an olive grove conducive to relaxation, hedonism and immersion are at the heart of the estate's welcoming philosophy.

 

Wine tourism activities are offered throughout the year.

 

One can only advise to prolong one's experience at the estate a little to fully immerse oneself in its essence, its authenticity, its richness and its calm.

 

This is why the castle has 5 guest rooms but can also be privatized in its entirety (giving access to its 8 rooms, swimming pools, terraces, lounges, billiards...).

 

Winegrower's cottages are also available for rent on the site.

• Châteauneuf du Pape: Clos du roi rouge (vintage currently on sale: 2015)

Over a sunny year, this wine has a beautiful cherry colour, it is powerful and generous with fine tannins and exhales aromas of ripe red fruits, spices and stones. Nice length in the mouth and finish on candied fruits.

• Châteauneuf du Pape: Clos du Roi blanc (vintage currently on sale: 2019)

A Grand Cru! This organic white Châteauneuf du Pape 2019 will give you immense pleasure. Hand-picked with rigorous sorting of the grapes in the vineyard. Superb expression of the freshness of this beautiful terroir on the banks of the Rhône.

• Côtes du Rhône: Esprit de Gigognan (vintage currently on sale: 2018)

A judicious blend of southern grape varieties, this wine reveals fine aromas of red fruits and spices. An ideal cuvée for everyday use. Although supple, it is distinguished by its power on the palate. A roundness and a beautiful freshness on the finish. Its structure will soften with age.
