Discovering the Château Valoux

Discovering the Château Valoux

Linked to Château Bouscaut since 1929, Château Valoux is a pretty propertý in the Pessac-Léognan appellation. This cru of about ten hectares is located́ in Cadaujac, 20 minutes south of Bordeaux.

  • The history of Château Valoux

In 1992, Sophie Lurton took over from her father Lucien, who had been at the helm of the vineyard since 1979, and worked with her husband Laurent Cogombles, an agricultural engineer, to extract the best from a mainly clay-limestone terroir. The Château Valoux white vines are composed of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc.

In the reds, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, unsurprisingly, make up the majoritý of the vines, but a little Petit Verdot has just made its appearance... to be continued!

  • The birth of gourmet wines

Château Valoux is vinified in highly efficient facilities, the cellars were completely renovated in 2010.

The red wines are fermented in stainless steel and concrete tanks and then aged in 225 litre French oak barrels for 12 months.

The white wines are mainly vinified and aged in barrels with stirring for 10 months.

These processes result in wines that are full of flavour, life and fruit.

  • A haven of peace

The château, a pretty 18th century chartreuse, is a 4* gîte for up to 10 people. Surrounded by a pretty enclosed "curé" garden and its vineyard, it is a haven of peace. Its large, brightly coloured rooms, with fireplaces, delight its guests who find all the comfort they need.
