Discovering the Château de Beaumel and its emblematic winemaker Brigitte Caille

Discovering the Château de Beaumel and its emblematic winemaker Brigitte Caille

The domain

At the gates of the village of Gonfaron, Château de Beaumel has been owned by the Caille family since 2015. It combines a large 17th century bastide with nearly thirty hectares of vines that are on average 25 years old. Worked according to the principles of organic conversion and located for the most part in the geographical area of the Côtes de Provence, the vineyard is rich in the best Provencal grape varieties: Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Rolle.

The terroir

The vines are planted on the narrow plain of the Maures, which is made up of red clay, sand and rocky outcrops of pelite. The climate is similar to that of the coast, but with more extreme temperatures. The summers are hotter, with greater day/night temperature variations, and the winters are harsher. The soil is rather poor in substratum, with wild vegetation composed mainly of pines, cork oaks and holm oaks. It offers the vine an ideal support to develop a deep root system allowing it to resist the hydric deficit and to take advantage of the underground trace elements. This terroir gives the wines a particular typicity, opulent and aromatic at the same time.

Château de Beaumel

Meet Brigitte Caille, the emblematic winemaker of Château de Beaumel

"After a successful life in business development in the health sector under the Vivalto brand, this estate was taken over 7 years ago with my husband to be a place of quality of life and excellence in Provencal wine.

On a family level with all our children, it is also a place of transmission of a heritage respectful of our environment (vines in conversion BIO) and which incorporates our values of elegance and constant research of improvement. We are very interested in this elegance in the realisations, whether they are viticultural or real estate, but also in the humility of working tirelessly on our wines by putting ourselves at the service of our terroir and by crossing the best combinations of grape varieties and methods of management.

The location (45 hectares) is superb, with all these hundred-year-old trees in the middle of our vines (23 hectares planted) in organic conversion and the Château, very well situated, majestically dominates the surrounding land with a view of the Maures massif and Notre Dame des Anges.

We have completely rebuilt a modern 2500 hectolitre cellar which will allow us to double our vinification capacity.

The cellar has been specially designed to receive and conduct a tasting with a view of this remarkable landscape. It allows us to immerse ourselves in this site, but above all in its resonance in each of us to give meaning to the central values of our lives.

In this land of intense sun and heat, the quality of the layout creates the quality of life on our estate and the quality of our wines incorporates both the light of the South and the delicacy of the most complex aromas." - Brigitte Caille

A la découverte du Château de Beaumel

  • Château de Beaumel, cuvée Diamant AOP Côtes de Provence

Very light colour with fuchsia highlights.

Expressive, airy and elegant nose. Dominated by intense floral notes of rose nuanced by a hint of citrus skin. A beautiful freshness emanates from the wine and its aromatic framework, all in finesse, gives it a personality marker that distinguishes it from the classic amylic characters that we usually taste.

Smooth and unctuous on the palate with a soft, salivating finish.

  • Château de Beaumel, cuvée Cascade IGP des Maures

Very pale rosé, very light, with a fine fruitiness, a smooth mouthfeel, without too much alcohol. Easy to drink. For the pleasure of the taste buds of most people.

With a nose of lemon and peach, it is round, light and fluid on the palate, with no vinous character but on the contrary a lot of freshness in the taste.

  • Château de Beaumel, Grande Réserve

Purple colour. Complex nose dominated by blackcurrant aromas, accompanied by liquorice and black olive aromas. The palate is powerful with an attack marked by fine tannins, a mid-palate that fills the palate with fine woody notes.
