Discovering the Château Escot
Located in the commune of Saint Trélody in Lesparre-Médoc in the Bordeaux region, the existence of the vineyard is mentioned in the first edition of Bordeaux and its wines under the current name of Château Escot in 1850.
In 1868, the vineyard was already classified as a Crus Bourgeois.
In 1932, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bordeaux and the Chamber of Agriculture took the initiative to create an official classification of the Crus Bourgeois, which listed 444 crus including Château Escot.
The history of this property will be revived in 2019, thanks to the purchase of the property by two Czech wine enthusiasts, Mr Bartosek, a restaurateur and wine importer in Prague, and Mr Moravek, a property developer and collector of Crus. They have indeed great projects for Château Escot.
They have allowed the restructuring of the vineyard by uprooting and replanting new vines more adapted to the type of soil. They have also allowed the expansion of the area by buying new plots of land on a very qualitative terroir composed of beautiful gravel on the banks of the Gironde in Saint Christoly, vines which will be dedicated to the elaboration of the Cru Bourgeois.
From the beginning of 2022, Château Escot will expand with the addition of two extra wings on each side to accommodate their visitors, but also to rebuild modern technical buildings better adapted to the new surface area of the vineyard.
A wine-tourism circuit is also being developed in order to better welcome the many visitors from all over the world.
In this way, Château Escot will gain in quality and reputation each year.
